Reupdating my Top 10 of 2011 films (again)

Been a while since I updated this, but here we go.

  1. Hugo (MVP: Chlöe Moretz)
  2. Drive (MVP: Albert Brooks)
  3. Midnight in Paris (MVP: Owen Wilson)
  4. Rise of the Planet of the Planet of the Apes (MVP: Andy Serkis)
  5. Melancholia (MVP: Kirsten Dusnt)
  6. Win Win (MVP: Paul Giamatti)
  7. The Skin I Live In (MVP: Antonio Banderas)
  8. Super 8 (MVP: Elle Fanning)
  9. Crazy, Stupid, Love. (MVP: Ryan Gosling)
  10. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (MVP: Tom Cruise)

I know anyone who reads this might think that Drive and Paris should be #1, but Hugo has easily the best camerawork of any 2011 film, hands down. Really lovely film and I think that Chlöe Moretz deserved being nominated – girl carried this greatly along with Asa Butterfield.

I might update this after the Oscars. Films I haven’t seen yet (this show how fucking lazy I am):

  • War Horse
  • The Artist
  • Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
  • The Help
  • We Need To Talk About Kevin
  • The Muppets
  • Bridesmaids
  • Carnage
  • Take Shelter
  • Shame
  • Captain America
  • Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
  • The Ides of March
  • Warrior
  • Source Code
  • Jane Eyre
  • Rango
  • Chico & Rita
  • Etc.

Most likely seeing The Artist either on Thursday or Friday. At least, I wanna see the first 4 before Sunday. For anyone wondering how I’d rank the BP nominees I have seen.

  1. Hugo (MVP: Chlöe Moretz)
  2. Midnight in Paris (MVP: Owen Wilson)
  3. The Tree of Life (MVP: Jessica Chastain)
  4. Moneyball (MVP: Brad Pitt)
  5. The Descendants (MVP: Shailene Woodley)

P.S. – My opinion on Moneyball has lowered since then. Maybe I was depressed when I first saw it and ended liking it back then. I’d still put it ahead of Descendants, which I saw last week.
